Massage and sobada in Yakima

The sobada you grew up with, in your language.

Casa Sosiego is a studio of two licensed therapists. We work in Spanish, with you covered by a sheet the whole time and the pressure you choose.

The tradition

What is a sobada?

It is a Mexican tradition of hands-on massage: warm oil or lotion, firm pressure and long strokes, one part of the body at a time.

Many families know it from home, from a grandmother, an aunt or the village midwife. Here Adelfa, a licensed massage therapist, does it with you covered by a sheet and the pressure you decide. It is a tradition of care and rest: we do not diagnose, and we make no promises about your health.

A sobada with us

  • Done with the hands, with warm oil or lotion

  • One part of the body is uncovered at a time; the rest stays covered

  • You say how much pressure, and you can stop whenever you like

  • There is time to talk before and to rest at the end

Good to know

Questions before your first visit

What is a sobada?

It is a Mexican tradition of hands-on massage, with warm oil or lotion and firm pressure, one part of the body at a time. It is a session of care and rest: we do not diagnose, and we make no promises about your health.

How long is a session?

From 30 to 90 minutes, depending on what you choose when you book. Arrive a few minutes early to talk with your therapist.

Will I be covered the whole time?

Yes. A sheet covers you the whole session. Only the part we are working on is uncovered, and it is covered again when we move on.

What should I wear?

Whatever is comfortable. Take off only what you like; we work around whatever you keep on.

Can I ask for lighter or firmer, or stop?

Yes, at any time and for any reason. Before we start we ask how much pressure you like. If you ask for a pause or to end the session, we stop right away.

Do I need to speak English?

No. Adelfa and Fabio work in Spanish, and Fabio in English too. The studio, the booking and the WhatsApp messages are all in Spanish.

What if I am pregnant or have a health problem?

Ask your doctor or midwife before booking and tell your therapist. Health questions are answered on the booking page, not in messages.
